Marine

Back to 1960 SHOWA started to offer fisherman’s glove.
We keep offering reliable hand protections with a wealth of experience.

01

Landing

Fishermen handle fishing nets on the ship.
They pull nets aggressively to catch targeted fishes. They move their hands deftly between a mesh and a mesh of nets.
In the landing operation fishermen's fingers and palm are exhausted and damaged due to wet nets rubbing.

Landing

SHOWA offers suitable hand protections for fishermen.
Our hand protections have reliable durability and dexterity.
Not only our tough hand protections can be used for long hours but also fishermen can move their fingers with good sensitivity and less tiring.

02

Hand selecting

Fishes are screened by kind, size, level of damage etc after caught.
In the hand selecting task workers need to check and handle fishes as quick as possible in order not to reduce freshness.

Hand selecting

The thick type of gloves is a good choice for pulling fishing nets on the ship or handling large crustaceans such as crab or shrimp in the selecting task.
If more easy finger movements would be required when handling small fish, SHOWA recommends the thin type of hand protections as well.

Some seafood may be frozen just after caught in order to keep freshness.
If workers do hand selection of frozen seafood, choosing hand protections with cold resistant feature or enough thickness may be the effective way to prevent coldness.
SHOWA proposes suitable hand protections even if workers handle frozen seafood.

03

Seafood Processing

Seafood is processed by various methods.
Some fishes are cut for several pieces for easy to eat. Some fishes are removed bones.

Seafood Processing

In the cutting process workers need to contact seafood directly, so SHOWA recommends the hand protection that is tested and certificated by food safety regulation.

Workers cut various seafood by using knives.
Unfortunately handling knives occur unpredictable accidents of injuries by cuts or lacerations.
Even though workers pay enough attention, a risk of cut injuries would not become zero.
SHOWA offers the high cut resistant inner protection that may reduce a risk of direct touch of knives to hands even if outer gloves will be scratched. Please try this excellent inner under gloves.

04

Cleaning

In order to reduce a risk of food poisoning and related diseases cleaning is very important.
Floors, fish boxes, fish tanks, cutting tools, clothes and toilets etc should be kept clean by daily cleaning.
SHOWA is supporting to keep fishing ports, markets, and product process factories etc clean by offering gloves for cleaning.

Cleaning

SHOWA recommends a wide range of hand protections with different lengths and thickness.
Gloves with sleeves or the integrated type of gloves and sleeves would effectively guard until arms without water leaking.

05

Cold storage work

Some fishes are frozen just after caught in order to keep freshness.
It is generally said that raw tuna must be kept at zero degrees and frozen tuna must be kept at -50 to -60 degrees to maintain quality. Under such an extremely cold environment workers’ hands especially fingers get easily numb or pain due to coldness.

Cold storage work

Using several gloves over gloves is not the intelligent way to escape from the cold because wearing many gloves makes workers’ workability down.
SHOWA proposes all in one solution which has cold resistance, waterproof, breathability warmth, flexibility and high grip performance feature.
In addition palm coating type is a good choice if you would like to prevent only fingers under light cold environment just under zero degrees.
